New Hampshire’s business tax method “was adopted for the benefit of foreign businesses.” That was a decision of the NH Supreme Court in 1999. Ending that competitive advantage for foreign companies over NH companies, where those foreign companies can evade some or all of their taxes by shifting profits overseas, was the subject of my first bill and, yesterday, my first speech to the full House as a state representative. Rep. Oppel ended with a simple question: “Do you stand with NH businesses or do you stand with foreign multinationals?” Unfortunately, the House majority choose to again protect foreign enterprises at the expense of NH businesses and NH families.
