This meeting is open to the public.
There are both in-person and on-line opportunities to join listed below.
Grafton County Sheriff Jill Myers, on behalf of Grafton County, joined a federal program that deputizes local officers to carry out federal immigration enforcement.
Sheriff Myers is meeting with the Grafton County Commissioners to review the conditions of the program. The public has been invited to listen in but this is not a time for questions
Sheriff Myers said she was:
- concerned about unnecessarily long detention of individuals while waiting for ICE to arrive, Protection and Safety of Deputies.
- unfamiliar with the protocol in handling such cases. Participation in the Task Force allows local law enforcement to receive proper training, and that,
- as Sheriff, Myers desires the Department to be “in the loop” regarding knowledge of events in Grafton County and to have representatives of the Sheriff’s Department “on board” in such cases.
