Thousands of members of the Free State Project have relocated to New Hampshire with the goal of influencing state politics and transforming it into a model of libertarian governance. To advance their agenda, the Free State Project helped form the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance—a political advocacy group that scores legislation and advises lawmakers on how to vote. Today, libertarian-aligned legislators supported by the Liberty Alliance hold significant sway in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.
The Liberty Alliance promotes libertarian bills and hands out a booklet called the Gold Standard to all legislators as they enter session and ranks their votes, see below. It also promotes candidates who vote libertarian. The Liberty caucus dominates the NH Republican House caucus. They are slightly less, but increasingly powerful in the Senate.
These are the Liberty Alliance House Representatives in Grafton County. You can find their districts on the map below. These legislators follow Liberty Alliance instructions on how to vote all, or nearly all, of the time.

The Liberty Alliance goals are to:
- decrease state funding for public education, increasing property taxes
- defund public libraries, nursing homes, and recreation centers
- end local control of town regulations and district budgets
An Example of an Extreme Free-Stater Legislator in Grafton County is Representative John Sellers, Representing Bristol and Bridgewater
Rep. John Sellers, D10 (Bristol and Bridgewater), toes the Liberty Alliance line. The Bristol Democratic committee, in an effort to educate the district voters, has recently sent out over 800 of these postcards to undeclared voters in the Bristol and Bridgewater area. Bristol town committee volunteers will canvass these same people through the fall. (See the postcard below).
