A Message from Josh

If you watched the Vote-O-Rama last weekend for the Inflation Reduction Act, you likely felt both relieved by its passage, and frustrated by the things that weren’t in there. I know I was. While this is an historic and important piece of legislation, it pales in comparison to what it once was. Things like vision and dental coverage for seniors, the Insulin Price Control, Free Community College, and taxes on the wealthy were all, at one point or another, negotiated away.

I chose the above examples specifically out of the many good things in this bill that were lost, because they are all things we can do right here in the State of New Hampshire with a Democratic majority and a Democratic governor. We can pass two years of free community college if we send Heather Baldwin, Corrine Morse, Craig Tomlinson, Tommy Hoyt, Tim Egan, Linda Massimilla, Jerry Stringham, Jordan Applewhite, Jared Sullivan, Carolyn Lobban, Catherine Mulholland, Taylor Largmann, and the rest of our Democratic candidates to the New Hampshire House this fall.

We can make the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes and reign in corporate greed if we elect Bill Marsh, Edith Tucker, Kate Miller, Richard Lobban, and Sue Prentiss to the New Hampshire Senate this fall.We can expand vision care for Medicaid and cap insulin prices if we elect Tom Sherman the next governor of the State of New Hampshire.

Incumbent reps will be submitting these as pieces of legislation to be considered in the next term. Whoever gets elected this fall will be tasked with passing or defeating these bills. It’s up to us to make sure the right people get elected.

The last two years of Reactionary Republican Rule in Concord has taught us that nobody is coming to save us. There is no referee, no teacher, no unbiased decider of what’s fair and what’s not. The only people who can save us are ourselves.

You’re getting pounded with asks for donations by every senator, congressperson, PAC, and party in America right now. I wouldn’t be asking you if it wasn’t important, but I would ask you to sit down for a moment, consider not only all the damage being done by the Republicans in Concord and Washington, and hear me out — Hope.

Think about the great things that the slate of Democrats above could do for the State of New Hampshire and its residents if they got elected. Think about the safe and well-funded schools, the cleaner climate, the minimum wage increase, the affordable housing, the dignity for all people.

If you contribute to the Grafton County Democratic Committee, your money will go straight into our targeted races to make whatever you hoped for a reality in the next legislative session. We have already spent thousands of dollars to elect Democrats, but we still need your help to win in November.
Please consider.
